Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the recently concluded Nasarawa North Senatorial by-election by a landslide because residents appreciate the visible impacts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms and infrastructure projects.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction of the Akwanga-Jos Super Highway in Gwanje, Akwanga Local Government Area, Governor Sule noted that the by-election served as a “test of the waters” ahead of the 2027 general elections, proving the APC’s continued dominance in the state.
“During our by-election, we had very important, committed, and well-known contenders from other parties. But our party, the APC, won 45,000 votes during that election. The next party only got 12,000 votes, and then the next got only 11,000 votes,” the governor stated.
He pointed out that the combined votes of the two main opposition parties amounted to only about half of the ruling party’s total tally. “So if you put their votes together, it is only 50% of what we have in the APC.”

Sule insisted that the wide margin of victory was a reflection of performance rather than chance. “It is not a fluke. It is not a surprise. It is not a gimmick. It is the fact that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working, the APC is working in Nasarawa State, and the people appreciate that.”
