 It  in this regard that, I feel that there must be a credible national vision that is also meaningful, attractive, inspiring and caring to the ordinary citizens, so that it will become a shared mission. This is because it is only a shared mission that leads to the needed mobilisation of efforts to make the vision a befitting reality. Unfortunately, a good vision without a good leadership will get us nowhere but further down the abyss.
Indeed, due to the successive bad leaderships in Nigeria, the vision of a corporate, peaceful and stable prosperous Nigerian nation of our independence heroes namely Sir Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, etc. has dimmed, giving way to the existing ethno-religiously guided and disunited country faced with massive and dangerous security challenges and social dislocations.
To return to those glorious days, Nigerians need a leader who will inspire them with a vision towards a future of peace, progress and prosperity. Nigeria is a country with massive naturally endowed human and material resources. Yet, because of weak and selfish leadership we grope in want of all the basic things of life necessary for human and even animal survival; security in particular!
Nigerians also need a leader to frontally combat the prevalence of corruption, both in low and high places, in our private and public lives. The corruption cankerworm has become endemic and psychological i.e. a thing of the mind. In fact it has become a norm rather than the exception in much of Nigeria’s recent history. That is partly responsible for the exhibition of frustration and lack of trust in the system by the citizenry. The leadership Nigerians are yearning for in 2015 must be legitimate, just and of good character. This is because leadership is a value-based vocation or else it becomes dysfunctional as being presently portrayed at all levels of our ongoing democratic process. Indeed, there is no gainsaying the fact that it is character defects and/or weak capacity of our leaders/representatives that have accounted largely for the persistent high levels of corruption especially in our public institutions.
This is why the president we desire in 2015 should be someone of integrity that would not compromise in character and will not accept misbehaviour from aides. As we approach the 2015 general elections, it is becoming clearer that the man who best fits into these leadership qualities is the incorruptible General Muhammadu Buhari.
I appeal to APC and other presidential aspirants of the party, and may it please them, to do Nigerian and Nigerians a favour by giving the party’s ticket to the Nigeria’s providential president-in-waiting, Muhammadu Buhari. I pray God to guide the party right in taking the desired decision when the moment of taking that crucial step comes.
