The Renewed Hope Youth Alliance in Ondo State has declared a vote of confidence in Princess Catherine Oladunni Odu, endorsing her to complete the remaining tenure of Ondo South Senatorial District following the transition of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim to an ambassadorial role at the United Nations.

Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja, the Ondo State Coordinator of the group, Comrade Olopade Samuel, described Odu as “a beacon of hope and inspiration” whose record in public service has distinguished her as a capable leader.

According to him, the former Secretary to the Ondo State Government possesses the experience, integrity, and leadership qualities required to represent the district in the Senate.

“Princess Catherine Oladunni Odu is not just a name; she is a beacon of hope and inspiration for many, particularly women and youth aspiring to lead,” he said.

Olopade highlighted Odu’s educational background in sociology, industrial relations, and law, noting that her qualifications and years in public office had prepared her for higher responsibilities.

He listed her previous positions to include Commissioner for Education, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, Federal Commissioner at the Public Complaints Commission, and the first female Secretary to the Ondo State Government.

The group said Odu’s public service career was marked by reforms aimed at strengthening institutions, improving access to education, and promoting grassroots development.

“As Commissioner for Education, she was instrumental in implementing reforms that enhanced educational management and improved access to quality education,” Olopade stated.

He added that during her tenure as Commissioner for Women Affairs, she championed women’s participation in governance and leadership.

The youth alliance further described her leadership style as one rooted in discipline, professionalism, accountability, and ethical public service.

“Her governance philosophy is rooted in accountability, ethical public service, and a commitment to long-term stability,” he said.

The group appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider Odu as a consensus candidate for the Senate seat, arguing that her emergence would encourage greater female participation in leadership.

“We appeal to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, to consider our request for Princess Odu to be named a consensus candidate for this important position,” Olopade said.

The alliance also called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to support the move.

“We also urge the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to lend his support to this cause, recognizing that together we can empower a leader who has consistently demonstrated her dedication to service,” he added.

The group urged members of the All Progressives Congress and residents of Ondo South Senatorial District to rally behind Odu, saying her representation would advance the values of integrity, accountability, and progress.
