The Youth Farmers Organization for Agricultural Development in Nigeria (YFOADN) has announced the forthcoming 1st National Food Security Summit, scheduled for November 10, 2025, in Abuja, following an official visit to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the National President of YFOADN, Hon. Abdulrahman Umar Etudaye, said both events reflect the organization’s commitment to strengthening youth participation in agriculture, promoting food security, and supporting Nigeria’s industrial growth.
He described the visit to the Dangote Refinery — which took place from September 30 to October 2, 2025 — as an eye-opening experience showcasing Nigeria’s industrial capacity and potential for economic transformation. According to him, the refinery represents “a monumental leap towards national energy security and economic diversification,” capable of creating jobs, reducing import dependency, and driving value addition in the oil and gas sector.
Etudaye said the refinery’s scale, technology, and commitment to environmental sustainability mark it as a model of industrial innovation for Africa. “The Dangote Refinery is not only a symbol of Nigerian ingenuity but also a platform for youth to learn, innovate, and contribute to national development,” he stated.
He further announced that preparations were in top gear for the National Food Security Summit 2025, which will serve as a platform for dialogue and partnership among government, private sector, and youth stakeholders to develop a sustainable framework for food security.
The summit will also feature the official launch of the Youth in Agriculture Programme (YIAP) — an initiative designed to empower young Nigerians in modern farming, agribusiness, and value-chain development — as well as the inauguration of the Dangote Youth Ambassadors (DYA), a network of youth beneficiaries of Dangote empowerment programmes.
Etudaye revealed that Mr. Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, will serve as Chairman of the National Food Security Summit 2025, while the event will also include a Leadership Awards Ceremony recognizing contributions to youth empowerment and agricultural development.
He called on public and private institutions, development partners, and financial organizations to support the summit’s objectives, stressing that “food security is a shared national responsibility that requires collective action.”
“The National Food Security Summit is more than a conference — it is a movement to empower youth, drive innovation, and ensure that no Nigerian goes to bed hungry,” Etudaye concluded.
