Speaking to Feverpitch shortly after his team’s victory over Abia Warriors in the Federation Cup, the former junior international said the governor of the state had provided the enabling environment for the club to return to winning ways.

He also said the performance of the club in the Federation Cup will go a long way to prove that El-Kanemi deserves the promotion it got recently.

Kalli said most members of the club’s management committee are ex-footballers and former players of the club who know what is required to bring back the lost glory of El-Kanemi.

He assured the team’s teeming supporters that El-Kanemi, former winners of the Federation Cup will not rest on its oars as he maintained that the coveted trophy is the target.

“I am sure most people may be wondering why the sudden progress being made by the club but I tell you the secret is the governor of the state who has given the management committee the needed backing to succeed.

“Most of us who have been saddled with the responsibility to revive the club are former players of El-Kanemi. The chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Zanna is also a former player of El-Kanemi. He knows what is good for the club.

“We are not going to rest on our oars. We shall keep doing our best to justify the confidence reposed in us by the governor and the good people of Borno State”.
