A former member of the House of Representatives and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, USA Igwesi, has said Governor Peter Mbah’s performance has earned him the unanimous endorsement of stakeholders in the Enugu East Senatorial Zone ahead of the 2027 governorship race.

Igwesi, who represented Nkanu East and West Federal Constituency, said stakeholders across political divides were proud of Mbah’s achievements in just two years, describing him as a role model among Nigerian governors.

He recalled that during the recent NBA Conference in Enugu, Senator Dino Melaye urged Mbah to organise training for his colleagues in other states, underscoring his national recognition. “Since his inauguration, Enugu has continually been in the news for good reasons and has become a destination of choice. His re-election is already a done deal,” Igwesi said.

The former lawmaker praised Mbah for investing 33 percent of the state budget in education, building 260 Smart Green Schools and 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres with staff quarters across the wards, and reviving dormant assets such as Hotel Presidential, Nike Lake, and Niger Gas. He also commended the governor’s launch of Enugu Air, 100 CNG buses, and five modern transport terminals.

According to him, Mbah has improved security and is working to operationalise the international terminal of the Akanu Ibiam Airport and a new cargo terminal to make Enugu an aviation hub.

On Sunday, leaders of Enugu East formally adopted Mbah as their sole candidate for 2027, declaring that “one good turn deserves another.”
