Mrs. Pamela Adabanya: Abuja Preparatory School was set up to achieve excellent education in a happy environment, conducive for learning, convenient for parents and with a reasonably affordable package. When you hear about the excellence and quality, you just assume it is expensive. Abuja Preparatory is not an expensive school. It is not about the money but about giving the best education where possible at the most reasonable cost.
How prepared are you to recruit quality teachers and check them?
Mrs. Adabanya: One basic criterion every teacher must have is to be qualified first and foremost. Once you are a qualified teacher the next thing is for us to know if you can fit into the standards of Abuja Preparatory School. Not just being a qualified teacher but you have to be smart, know and understand yourself and love children.  
The teachers are trained to be able to deliver their lessons as it is delivered in the country whose curriculum we are following which is the National curriculum of England. The measures basically to check them comes from the headmaster and the teachers themselves. They have heads that check them from time to time; the headmaster goes about this without prior information.
What are the challenges of the school?
Mrs. Adabanya: Abuja Preparatory School has come through a difficult period. We started in January which is the second term of most schools and because of the quality of what has been put in place already; it was humbling to see parents believe in us. Right from the beginning, we have had a large number of students, till now the number of students coming in is still tremendous.
Abuja Preparatory school has faced the normal challenges of the day to day running of a school but with the members of staff in the school right now, the team is so strong and the school is set to be among the best in Abuja, if not in Nigeria.
Good education cannot be over emphasized. What we are trying to do is to meet it reasonably at a point where children get excellent education without it being overly expensive and can be afforded by the middle class. Not necessarily that it is cheap. Nothing with good quality is cheap but it is necessary and an investment to our children and it is where we need to have our children today.
What are your preventive measures on Ebola to protect the children when they resume?
Mrs. Adabanya: Abuja Preparatory School has been prepared from the beginning to welcome the children back. We have a good number of infrared thermometers to check the children at the gate and sanitize them. There are also trained medical officers at the gate making sure that everybody is checked. If anyone has a temperature, we explain that the person has to go back for treatment until the person is healthy enough to resume.
We have sanitized the entire building and classrooms as well to receive the children when they come back. Every member of staff has also been trained on this. The parents, drivers and anybody bringing in the child will be checked and it will be continued until the virus is eradicated.
