Nusaiba Muhammed is a Kannywood actress who has been making waves in the Hausa filmmaking industry. The young Gombe State-born actress popularly known in the entertainment industry as Sailuba, speaks on her journey to stardom, and challenges among other issues.

Who is Nusaiba?

Nusaiba is an easy going girl born in Gombe State but relocated to Kano State. She had both her primary and secondary education in Kano State. She is currently an actress in the Hausa filmmaking industry and she is known in the entertainment sector as Sailuba.

Nusaiba has been in Kannywood for about four years now and she has over ten films to her credit. She had played lead roles in several films. Though she didn’t proceed with her educational pursuit, Nusaiba is preparing to go back and further her education if the time warrants.

Why Kannywood?

It will interest you to note that my case wasn’t as similar to that of many actresses because while growing up, I never had an interest in becoming an actress or being part of the entertainment sector at all. My being involved with Kannywood is something I can term as destiny. I was destined to be an actress and that is all I can say.

My interest to become an actress was just something that came to me overnight and I jumped into it just like that. I was seen as a lucky person when it comes to my involvement with the industry. I was introduced to the industry through a family friend who took me for an audition at Arewa24 Hausa Satellite TV station, and before the result of the audition came out, I got cast in about four films.

However, when the Arewa24 audition result came out, I was considered successful in playing the role of Sailuba in one of the best TV series dramas ‘Dadin Kowa’. That was how my journey to stardom began in the entertainment industry.

I have films like Ni Da Mijin Yayata, Matar Kaddara, and Zaman Tare among many others.

What was your perception of Kannywood before you joined?

As I have told you earlier, I wasn’t a fan of films, but when I decided to join the Kannywood industry, I began to hear all sorts of stories about the industry and its practitioners. However, I decided not to believe anything and tasked myself to go into it to experiment and make a choice on my own and not based on what people say, be it good or bad.

When I ventured into the industry, it dawned on me that the industry is a vast sector that comprises all sorts and manner of people and the choice is with you either to be on the good side or the bad side. However, the stories in the industry have played a very vital role in making some members of my family to frown at my decision to join the industry.

It took me time to make them understand what I had figured out, and I was lucky they understood and reasoned with me but they gave me a guide. They always remind me of where I came from and the reputation that I have to protect for the sake of the family.

What are your memorable moments as an actress?

One of my memorable moments was when I started new, I thought no one knew me yet, but I was proven wrong. I don’t want to mention names but someone had recognised my contribution to people’s lives through my films and he found it very important to recognise my efforts. I never knew him from Adam, but he looked for my contact and spoke to me through video call. He encouraged me and thanked me for doing what I was doing. The man appreciated me in a manner that I would never forget and I have never expected.

This form of encouragement has been an ingredient behind my zeal to continue being an actress. That singular gesture proved to me that we are indeed contributing to societal development.

What are your sad moments as an actress?

One of my sad moments was when a lady tried to embarrass me at a filling station for a role I played. It baffled me the way and manner in which this lady was making several accusations against me. I didn’t blast back, but I was able to make her understand that acting is an imitation of real life happenings and not reality. She was convinced that it was just an act and not reality, but it wasn’t a pleasant encounter.

Do you have any regrets as an actress?

I don’t have any form of regret for being an actress. I am glad to tell you that, my entire family has given their consent and I have been receiving all the support I needed to succeed in my chosen career.

Is it true that you are not on social media?

Not really, you see, I have been very careful with the social media. I have never had a Facebook account, but I have a WhatsApp account and an Instagram account, which has been inactive for long.

I don’t get involve in social media activities but it will surprise you to note that there has been in existence over four Facebook accounts bearing my name and pictures, but I told people, I am not the owner of those accounts.

Why the decision to elude social media?

If you want to live peacefully, especially as a celebrity, there is a need for you to be wary on social media usage. Know what to post, when to post and where to post. I am a young girl with a future, I have to watch the path to trail and that is why I am very careful with social media. It will interest you to note that I have opened a TikTok account in the last three months and I only post pictures and that is all.

Are you into any relationship?

Yet I am but not a serious relationship but it is not a serious relationship. But I have many suitors.
