A front line All Progressives Congress (APC) contender for the Benue governorship seat, Dr. Mathias Byuan, has explained that his presence at a Peoples Demoratic Party meeting on Sunday was because the meeting was organised by a political group that  believes in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.

Byuan, who is the Executive Director of Housing, Finance and Accounts at the Federal Housing Authority, made the clarification following inquiries about his presence at the residence of former Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, where a pro-Tinubu group reportedly held a meeting to drum up support for the president’s second term bid.

Byuan in a statement issued yesterday, said as a beneficiary of the Tinubu administration and considering the confidence reposed in him by the president, he considers it his duty to identify with and support any political party, group, or association genuinely mobilising support for the president’s re-election.

He added that his engagement with such groups should not be misconstrued, stressing that his focus remains on strengthening partnerships that promote the policies and vision of the Tinubu administration.

Byuan stressed that it was line with his responsibility as a presidential appointee from Benue State and a supporter of the administration’s development agenda to support any group, association, or political party mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

He further stated that he remains open to engaging with organisations, associations, and political parties willing to collaborate in promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda and supporting the president’s re-election.
