After her death, he continued to source it from some people in Lagos who usually come to drop the product and go back. “After I sell it, they come back to collect their money,” he said. Bello disclosed that he has been in the illicit business for four years. “I always do the drugs too,” he added. On his days in the military, Bello, who said he served the Nigerian Army for 23 years, recalled that he cultivated the habit of smoking while in service.

“I regret ever taking part in the business. Everyone calls me Baba and it is very shameful that I was involved in this,” he said.

Commandant, National Drug Law Enforcement Agent, NDLEA in Sokoto State, Mohammed Misbau Idris said because of his age, Bello has been placed under proper surveillance and counselling and is being monitored towards arresting those responsible for the supply. Idris told Weekly Trust that the command was collaborating with other sister agencies to ensure that they rid the state of drug abuse and trafficking while appealing to the general public to give them maximum cooperation.
