Oladimeji, a foremost businessman, said many of his friends and colleagues in the business sector tried to discourage him from venturing into the education sector, especially the tertiary education sub-sector, but he remained determined to leave a lasting education legacy.
Speaking with newsmen on the 10 years anniversary of establishment of the institution, the founder noted that education was the only asset that would remain ever-lasting.
“Education is the only asset that will outlive us. If you give education to your child, you have given him or her self-sustenance. Education is the only means of eradicating poverty and all social vices among our youths,” he said.
He disclosed that the institution was supported by his friends and well meaning individuals who buy his vision and idea about using education as a tool to develop man.
“Al-Hikmah is 100 per cent indigenous. No foreign partnership. It is only supported by some servants of Allah in Nigeria,” he added.
He stated that the institution possessed competent academics, adding that it charged the cheapest among the 56 private universities in the country.
Oladimeji urged the federal government to provide employment opportunities for graduates to get jobs after graduating, stressing that the country has the resources and the wherewithal to improve its economy.
He said the institution’s College of Law has taken off while efforts were ongoing to establish engineering and pharmaceutical colleges.
