Ugbah also said that he accepted the responsibility to lead the Ortom/Abounu campaign team to ensure the party wins and appealed to aggrieved aspirants and their supporters to also bury the hatchet and team up for the electoral victory of the party at the polls.
“I’m doing this because at this time, Ortom stands the best chance of leading us forward, so whatever ambitions I had, I have put them on hold. I’m not about ego tripping to insist that I must contest for governor, actors come and go, so if it is God’s time tomorrow, He will bring me back. For now, I’m going to clear the stage for Ortom to shine,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to Ortom for approaching him to take up the responsibility, knowing what had happened in the party, adding however that he would rely on the support and input of all party members, especially leader of the party in the state, Senator George Akume, to deliver on his mandate.
Earlier, Ortom had inaugurated a 79-member campaign team with a call to supporters to exercise restraint in the face of intimidation and provocation, saying the way to government house should start with discipline and love.
