A 30-year-old tricycle rider, Abubakar Yakubu, has told police investigators in Minna, Niger State, that he always goes for minors to satisfy his sexual urge because he has no confidence to approach women.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, who disclosed this when he paraded the suspect, said the suspect who resided in the Limawa area of Minna was arrested af-ter they received intelligence of his sexual assaults on girls.

The CP said that during investigation the suspect told the police that he was a tricycle rider and that he had been having carnal knowledge of two girls within the community who he usually lured into his house with tokens of N50 or N100 for the past one year.

He was said to have also mentioned two other girls he attempted to rape, including one of his relatives, who he said he had been trying to defile.

The CP further said, “The ages of the girls range from six to eight, while he claimed that his rea-son for the act was just for pleasure and that he could not talk to mature ladies.”
