The Pioneer Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Kubwa and District Society, Mrs. Ijeoma Ugwunebo, says the newly created district has distinguished itself within a short period and is already “the district to beat.”

Ugwunebo stated this at the End-of-Year Party organised by the District on Saturday at the Spanish Garden, Kubwa, Abuja.

She said: “The idea behind the party is to celebrate ourselves. Since the District was established on May 15, 2025, we have kept up with the pace.

“The high point of our celebration is that in the past six months of our existence, we won a laurel at the Annual Accountants’ Conference District Parade Competition, where 46 districts across Nigeria participated and we came 3rd in the medium-sized districts category.That was a remarkable achievement for us, knowing that we were barely six months old as a district society. Also, some of our members won prizes in various sporting activities at the conference.

“We are here today to end the year 2025 on a happy and joyous mode by bringing our families together to celebrate with us.”

She added that the District would continue to invest in the professional growth of members.

“There is no general meeting where we don’t have technical sessions, with renowned accounting and tax experts coming to speak to us. Everything that will impact our members positively, we will keep doing,” she said.

The Vice Chairman of the ICAN Kubwa and District Society, Mr. Emmanuel Salako, said the End-of-Year Party provided an opportunity for members to unwind and strengthen professional bonds.

He said: “This is our End-of-Year Party, and we felt it was important to bring our families together, unite, and connect. Among us, there are members looking for jobs and others with opportunities to offer. This platform helps both groups connect so we can build a more prosperous ICAN District Society in Kubwa. Going by our name, the Diamond District, we are already a district to beat. They call us the Gen-Z District not because we have many young people, but because of the modern ideas that come from us.”

Sharing his experience, a member of the District, Mr. Samuel Egunnbi, said:
“I enjoyed myself. It was a good time to unwind, and this comes once a year. I look forward to another one next year. I liked the reunion and seeing my professional colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a thing of joy.”

One of the children at the event, Kazan Odusanya, also expressed excitement:
“I enjoyed the games. I was one of the winners in the drinks-arrangement game, and I won a prize. It was fun.”
