The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nana Nandap, will not be leaving her position anytime soon despite being due for retirement, officials have said.

According to sources, Nandap’s retirement became effective on Thursday, October 9, 2024, after completing 35 years of service.

Daily Trust gathered that Nandap who was commissioned on 9th October 1989 completed her 35 years of service on the 9th of October, 2024, in accordance with the provision of the Public Service Rule which is applicable to the NIS.

A member of the 22nd Basic Course of the NIS Training School, Kano, she rose steadily in the service and was appointed as Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI).

Despite this, Nandap had remained silent on her impending exit while the Ministry of Interior which supervises the NIS is yet to make any official statements.

Speaking with Daily Trust, a source who craved anonymity said the CG got an 18-month tenure appointment from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu effective March 1, 2024.

“Her letter of appointment was dated February 26, 2024. This means her tenure will run till September 2025,” the source who is in a position of knowledge told Daily Trust.

When contacted, the Service spokesman Kenneth Udo said, “What I can tell you is that the Comptroller-General was appointed by Mr President and I don’t want to comment on the appointment made by Mr President.”
