Kannywood Producer and Managing Director, Abnur Entertainment, Alhaji AbdurRahman Muhammad has given reasons Hausa film industry popularly known as Kannywood deserved to get a ministerial appointment from President Muhammadu Buhari.

The producer alias Abdul Amart Mai Kwashewa who spoke with Daily Trust on Monday explained that the huge and vital roles played by Kannywood singers, actors and other filmmakers in campaigning for President Buhari in 2015 and 2019 elections made the industry to be rewarded with ministerial appointment.

Abdul Amart who led Kannywood stars in campaigning for Buhari in nook and crannies of northern Nigeria said their roles have made a lot of Nigerians voted for Buhari both in 2015 and 2019 general elections.

He said, “We have played a vital role in bringing Buhari into power, we have influence on our viewers and based on our research we have influenced a lot to vote for Buhari in 2015 and 2019 presidential elections“.

“If you observed well, Kannywood didn’t campaign for Buhari in 2003, 2007 and 2011 presidential elections and what happened? He lost the elections, we know he won in 2015 and 2019 but the roles we have played also helped in swinging millions of votes in his favour, because we composed great songs for him, we did superb jingles for him and we did door-to-door campaigns for him.” He said.

Abdul Amart, a grandson of popular politician late Alhaji Abubakar Dzukogi of NEPU said in 2015 Buhari didn’t do anything for Kannywood but now is the right time to give a ministerial appointment to Kannywood.

“Apart from ministerial slot we also need Buhari’s government to build cinemas in 19 northern states for us, give our filmmakers loans and also order Nigerian Copyright Commission to work round the clock in fighting piracy for the survival of Kannywood.” He said.
