Why Katsina South must speak with one voice

The zone, comprising Funtua, Bakori, Danja, Dandume, Kafur, Malumfashi, Sabuwa, Faskari, Matazu, Kankara and Musawa, has in 117 polling wards and with 1,693 polling units.
Within the bounds of sovereignty, the senatorial zone has about 1,898,000 people under the 16 district heads and about 150 village heads charged with the responsibility of keeping the people within legal bounds, within norms and values. This senatorial zone, which is rich human and material resources, however suffers certain basic deficiencies which are as a result of the inability of those politicians elected to represent it to provide the required and desired representation.
To some it may come as a surprise while to others, it could be shocking to know that this wide and large senatorial zone is completely devoid of any federal government health facility.
It is also interesting to know that beside the Federal Government Girls College, Bakori, which was established long before the creation of Katsina, as a state, there is only the F S C Dayi, beside which there is no other federal government educational facility in the area. This is indeed ridiculous, considering that beside a senator, there are also five seats of honourable members of Houses of Representatives.
Moreso, it is of note that in this expansive senatorial zone there is also no functioning federal water scheme or irrigation projectfor the teeming population. Also, a very important and worthy point to note is the continuous scam going on in the name of Sokoto-Rima project. They are in the forms of drilling boreholes and the renovations of dams at staggering sums; things that can be done by any serious local government, but which became an avenue for the federal legislators to syphon public funds through inflation of the projects in the name of public service.
This by extension may mean poor representation or pure expression of nonchalant attitude by those charged with the responsibility of according what is due to where.
It is against this backdrop that the unanimous decision was made to field someone of proven integrity, track record of administrative competence and a major contributor to human development through public service. He is steadfast and dedicated to the cause of the common man. He is a teacher, an administrator and a politician, Alhaji Shehu Inuwa Imam. This decision was not without intense consultations of many elders and stakeholders in the communities, in the localities and in the metropolis of the various local government areas in the zone.
