Why Nasir Bala Ja’o’ji should be minister

By Mukhtar Shuaib, PhD
Since the confirmation of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), concerned Nigerians and groups came out to root for Honourable Nasir Bala Aminu Ja’oji as the best man to replace the former minister.
One of such outstanding calls is by Coordinated Arewa Youth Groups, which wrote an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu seeking to appoint Ja’o’ji as minister.
I must confess that this is call is timely reason being that the president needs to sign, to use football language, people of substance, who are capable adding vitality to his Renewed Hope Agenda especially as the 2027 election approaches; and sincerely Malam Nasir Aminu Ja’o’ji stands out in this regard and he is the best man for the job.
Some of the reason the groups gave, after an emergency meeting with our North West Branch of the association, held in Kano, today, as to why Ja’oji is deserving of a ministerial appointment especially as a vacancy opens up, are concentration of APC supporters from North West geo-political zone a region to which ja’oji belong, being ja’oji an ardent youth mobilizer, his contributions to human development generally, among others. I have found time to expound on this with practical examples.

Arguably, in recent years, no politician has demonstrated commitment to improving the living condition of Nigerian youth than Ja’oji. This he has achieved through silent but proven humanitarian work. Ja’oji, as a politician, has demonstrated a consistent passion for helping the vulnerable, especially youths and women. To put this into perspective I am bringing some of his empowerment projects and other interventions.
In 2024 Alhaji Nasir Aminu Ja’oji empowered more than one thousand party members with N50 million cash grants, as part of his commitment to cushion the effects of the harsh economic realities facing our society and to shape the future of our nation’s youth.
However, as part of his commitment to youth education, Ja’o’ji awarded foreign scholarships to indigenes of Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State. The initiative enables the beneficiaries to pursue their Master’s degree abroad, and thereby equipping them with advanced knowledge, skill and international experience.
Another example is how Ja’oji donated ten million naira (N10m) to the Farm Centre fire victims. One exceptional trademark of his politician is innate ability to identify with people at a trying time. The reader can imagine the smile Ja’oji put on the faces of the victims, who were being driven out of business by the fire incident.
Ja’o’ji hope has always been committed to giving a helping hand to the Tinubu administration, through thick and thin.
It was in acknowledgment of such commitments that the Emir of Daura Alhaji Umar Farouk, conferred the Adon Garin Kasar Hausa title on Ja’oji some months ago. The recognition is a testament to Hon. Ja’oji’s contributions to the development of the Hausa community and the nation at large but his dedication to the cause of human development through his empowerment initiatives from which a lot of people in our society have benefitted.
Two, ja’oji’s youthfulness is a great resource and a valuable addition to the Tinubu administration. He has a proven history of involvement with NGOs, community outreach and relief interventions and advocacy for social welfare. Ja’oji stands as a symbol of youth empowerment in Kano and beyond.
However, Ja’oji’s understanding of Nigeria’s complex poverty landscape is topnotch. This is one of the reasons why Coordinated Arewa Youth Groups in their letter to the president argued that Ja’oji as a member of Governing Council, has done what none of ministers from Kano state in Tinubu’s cabinet can afford to attempt to do. His philanthropic activities are cutting-edge.
It is based on the above and many that might have escaped me. I add to the voices of wisdom which called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to find a space in his cabinet to accommodate Alhaji Nasir Aminu Ja’oji. His name does not only ring a bell in the North political atmosphere, youths from the region also see him as a political lifeline to their ambitions.
Ja’oji’s inclusion into President Tinubu’s administration as a Minister, it will not only add strengthen the APC in the North, it will as well prompt other youth associations, which he (Ja’oji) either created, serves as their patron, or gives some lasting support, both financially and morally, to see the necessity of serving as mouthpiece for Renewed Hope Agenda. Particularly, when the next 2027 general election comes.

It is indeed on record that Ja’oji’s interventions in Kano surpasses all efforts of other APC politicians from the state. This is a fact that is so glaring for all. Kindly Google and see how Ja’oji is doing excellently well in his unflinching support for this administration. One good thing about him is wherever he goes, for any intervention, he tells people that what he does is in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Meaning, he preaches Tinubu, he copies Tinubu and he acts as Tinubu.

To me and many others, whom I contacted before resolving to author this write-up, Hon Nasir Bala Aminu, popularly called Ja’oji, is the right man for the job.
