He blamed the development on lack of commitment to the league by some top management officials of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Speaking to Feverpitch yesterday, the member of NFF Executive Committee said the president of the football federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari is doing everything possible to put the league on a sound footing but certain individuals in the NFF secretariat are bent on frustrating the Nationwide League.

He said having understood the vision and mission of the Nationwide League board, the NFF president is always ready to give all the necessary assistance.

Kawu however lamented that for no good reason, certain individuals who do not deserve to be in the NFF secretariat are hell bent on undermining the importance of the grassroots league.

He wondered how a management staff of the football federation, who calls himself football administrator would not understand the fact that the amateur league division is the bedrock of the nation’s football.

“By now, my board would have achieved a lot but we are facing serious challenges in the hands of few individuals in the NFF who do not understand our vision and mission.

“The board has enjoyed the required support from the NFF president, Alhaji Aminu Maigari who has since cued into our vision but there is a limit to which he can support us.

“What can he do when the people who are to help him implement his policies are singing a different tune?. It surprises me that someone in the NFF at the management level is ignorant of the importance of this grassroots league.

Kawu, therefore, said if after exhausting all internal means of finding solutions to the problems of the Nationwide League there is still no change, he would not hesitate to tell the whole world.
