Why neglect rural farmers?

The gap between government and farmers is getting wider each year hence the need to help them cultivate their lands is quite necessary and the way to go about this is to have a well-designed plan, to help in getting farming solutions to boost agricultural production.

Most of the research information that will better agricultural production are laying fallow, as there are no efforts to educate and provide extension services to the peasant farmer. They are left on their own to come up with storage systems, preservation of food and food distribution.

Information on agricultural produce prices are neither subsidised nor regulated and nobody is thinking to help them with inputs that they need. They go to the market to buy different inputs, at high prices. It is high time we began to take the rural farmers into consideration in our plans and the implementation of agricultural policies and programmes. Governments should help them in the cultivation of land and produce marketing.

It should also provide the farming communities with  school and health  facilities as most of the them lack them.
