Majority of Nigerians today are suffering from political illiteracy.  We have been indoctrinated to be extremely selfish.  But that is not the end of the world.

Nigerian youths can change the narrative by taking themselves a bit more seriously. 

For instance, if youths can pay attention to political issues as they do to football, movies and music, they would be able to take their rightful place on the political scene. 

They cannot sit back, do nothing and expect leadership positions to be handed to them. They must fight for it and the way to start is by taking themselves seriously. 

Youths have to prove to current leaders that they are ready to handle responsibilities, if not serious roles won’t be given to them.  

It is sad that only very few youths are currently in leadership positions and that must change.

Youths should not be satisfied by being political thugs. We can be more than that and we should prove that we are indeed more than that.  The election year is around the corner, youths should begin to ask themselves what they can do. We don’t have to wait for 2019, before we start strategizing. People of like minds can start meeting to figure out the role youths will play in the next election.
