Prevention of Zing Summit is truly government’s decision. Taraba State government issued a statement through its Commissioner of Information, Mallam Aminu Jika, one-time Chief of Staff to Nyame, suspending all political meetings/rallies and religious gatherings.  

But that is not the only obstacle to Nyame and his guests to Zing.  The youth of Zing took over and blocked Jalingo-Yola road at Zing town and the street leading to its village. According to them, they would not allow Nyame and his guests to Zing town.

One of their reasons is that Nyame is their son and had the opportunity to govern Taraba state for good 10 years, yet they have no potable water.  During the dry season, a jerry can of water is sold for between N20 and N30 in Zing—water that must be purified before use.

Another reason given by the youth is that among the Nyame’s guests to Zing Summit was one person they did not like. They vowed that they would not allow the summit to hold.  

Despite all this, Nyame’s press statement blames only the Taraba State Government for preventing him from holding the summit.

I think Nyame should look at this issue dispassionately and identify where the problem lies most.

But let me congratulate the former governor for offering himself to Tarabans to judge him of his deeds. As a Taraban, an indigene of Zing, his local government of origin, I feel I should be one of those capable of judging him.
