A hyperrealist Omonu Salisu has said artworks are of no good if people can’t see and understand it. 

Salisu, who made this known in a statement said it is important that people see and appreciate artworks because art expresses emotions in a non-generic way, adding that art exhibitions help bring hidden essence and emotion embedded in artworks before the people that admire and understand it. 

The award-winning visual artist who is set to hold his maiden solo art exhibition themed ‘Eye of the Pallette’ in Abuja on June 4 said exhibitions are influential platform for professionals to share information and build long-lasting relationships. 

He said figurative abstract works curated by Susa Rodriguez-Garrido which will be acrylic on canvas, will be on display at the exhibition. 

“These works are expressing a new style which is introducing pallette heads on figures which discuss combinations of affective memories, ancestry, nationality and reality,” he said. 

He said abstract works are more expressive, combining warm and vivid colours, using strong hues to indicate social and cultural emblems of his homeland which comes alive in the eyes of the audience.
