Why power of listening matters

Listening is the act of carefully hearing and attempting to comprehend the meaning of words spoken by another person. It is the most important aspect of building a strong leadership, healthy relationships and good friendship.

We make a lot of mistakes in life by denying people the opportunity to express themselves. We cut them off when they are half way to making important points; probably because we think we are superior.

Listening is a powerful stuff in life. We all love to be listened to. But ironically, we don’t want to listen to others. We often fall in love with people who listen to us, and we tend to hate people that do not listen.

If we truly love the sensation of being listened to, we ought to also listen to others because they are humans that deserve to be listened to. The way you love people that listen to you is the same way other people will love you if you listen to them, and vice versa.

I was discussing with a friend yesterday and he told me that he knew the solutions to the problems that bedevilled his family for a very long time. But the problem is that his father will not even listen to him. And that is what prompts me to write this article.

Dear parent, listen to us, just the way we are listening to you. Listening is a powerful tool. Sometimes we have good tidings.
