For the sake of equity, power should remain in the Southern part of the country till 2031, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, Speaker, Arewa Youth Assembly, had said.
This was in reaction to an interview where Zainab Buba Galadima, the Daughter of Buba Galadima, was seen commenting on reviews from the North about the Bola Tinubu-led administration and further making predictions on the percentage of Northerners that will vote for President Tinubu come 2027.
Reacting, Danlami said called on Nigerians to disregard her comments and predictions, saying “they are baseless, without facts or any criteria for assessment,” and “do not represent the voice or position of North and Northerners”.
“She and her co-travellers should know that power will remain in the south till 2031. Former President Buhari, who is a Northerner, served two uninterrupted tenures, and the Southerners not only refused to partake in the 2019 presidential race but they supported Muhammadu Buhari in honour of the zoning agreement between the North and the South,” the statement said.
The Arewa Youth Assembly cautioned all Northern politicians who are aspiring not to contest the 2027 elections as a payback for the 2019 elections.
“They should instead support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and wait for their turn in 2031, that is what respect and honour demand. No coalition or party will succeed, ADC, even more than united and fortified, cannot unseat President Tinubu come 2027,” the statement added.
