Comrade Soriwei Patrick Dubamni gave the warning in Benin, while addressing journalists.
The late 20-year-old Gabriel Sorowei, who was a 100-level Electrical/Electronic Engineering student of a Cyprus International University, was allegedly knocked down by a drunk driver.
“My 20-year-old son, who until his death was a residential part 1 student of the CIU, was knocked down by a drunk female driver on August 13, 2013 and eventually died on Sept.7, 2013. Till today, the government of Cyprus has completely shielded the killer. The authorities of the university sent Gabriel’s corpse to Nigeria as a cargo on September 12, 2013, without his belongings,” he said.
 Dubamni added: “I demanded to see the woman that knocked down my son, but the Turkish police bluntly refused. My contact in Cyprus said the police are doing nothing about the matter.”
He said following intervention by House of Representatives’ Committee on Diaspora, the university “sent about half of the boy’s belongings back home.
“I am doing this not because my boy will come to life again, but the best you can do for your brother is to warn him of impending danger. We have fallen victim and we don’t want our brothers to fall victim again. Presently we have over 700 Nigerian students in the school and more could still be going,” he said.
However, the management of CIU in a press briefing in Abuja, said the institution should not be accountable for the death of the student.
The Director of the international office of CIU, Mr. Patric Douse said, “it is difficult to blame institution for an incident that happened off-campus.”
