The player who spoke exclusively to SHOT! said most of the players have not played any competitive tennis since the beginning of the year and that would have adverse effect on their performance in the ITF  Pro-Circuit Futures championship billed for April 27 to May 10 in Abuja.
He reiterated that the foreign players who will be in the country for the championship have been busy with tournaments so beating them would not be easy.
 “I am just doing it gradually. Hopefully, I will be playing in the TomBim tournament in Abuja. It is an international tournament so it is going to be very strong.
“I am preparing to give my best. There are going to be big players there so I am waiting to see what will happen when I get there.
“In Nigeria we really don’t have enough tournaments. We boast of maybe two or three major tournaments in a year and this is not enough. So anyone that comes up, you just have to give it your best performance.
“So this first tournament of the year is going to be a difficult one for us, I mean Nigerian players because we would be playing against foreigners who are better prepared. Still we have to go in there and give our best”.
Eroseregbe maintained that lack of sponsorship has also not helped matters as players are made to sponsor themselves to tournaments, pay for accommodation and buy their own equipment.
“Like now I am the number one in Nigeria and I don’t see why I should not be sent out on training abroad.  You are left on your own and when you don’t do well, it is said you are not serious with your game.
 “Like last year we were to attend the Davis Cup and we had only two days to train so what magic can one do under such circumstance?
“We do almost everything one our own but I am not giving up because I know where I am coming from. I am not waiting for anybody.
In 2014, Enosoregbe won both the NPA and Dala Hardcourt Kano to retain his number one position in the country.
