The chairman of the NNL board, Chief Emeka Inyama said that the non compliance with the corporate governance statutes has denied it of many sponsorship deals in the past two seasons
“Before now whenever we approach most of these corporate concerns for sponsorships, what they tell us is that they cannot do business with us until we are properly registered as a duly corporate entity, and since we have secured the consent of our parent body, the NFF we have been registered and before long sponsorshipswill come,” he enthused.
He revealed that since the NNL has been duly registered it is no longer under the NFF Glo sponsorship plan, even though according to him, “ The NNL is still yet to get a dime from the Glo sponsorship fee…, For two years now we have not been able to get any sponsorship monies from the NFF by way of our share,..this year Glo has paid 170million to the football house we have not been given anything”
Inyama also said that the league body will no longer tolerate the non payment of players entitlements by clubs as they will enforce the rights of the players if brought to their notice.
On crowd violence in match venues, he said the NNL will be holding the club’s chairmen responsible to check the tide as the spirit of fair play should be the song this coming season.
