Why we should steer clear of sins – Cleric

An Islamic scholar, Ustadh Ismail Ishaaq Animasahun, has attributed the factors pushing people to commit sins to lies, ignorance about the Creator (Allah), weakness in knowledge, and hard-heartedness among others.

Ustadh Animasahun spoke in Abuja while delivering a lecture on “Impacts of sins on individual and society” organised by Abuja branch of the Organization of Tadhamunul Muslimeen (OTM).

He said excessive love for this world, the forgetfulness of the hereafter, and a deliberate refusal to follow the commandments of Allah were also responsible for the rise in sins and other immoral activities among mankind.

He said whoever is addicted to telling lies would end up engaging in serious vices because lies open up a channel to commit other sins.

He advised the politicians to avoid the temptation of telling lies or making unrealistic promises during the electioneering campaigns.

Animasahun said the prevalence of sins was responsible for the reign of the oppressors over the downtrodden, the absence of blessings in human jobs, as well as unstable governance, calamity, strange ailments in the society.
