What do Abuja residents stand to gain by this your “Hands of God” programme?

Early this year, our General Overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye gave us instructions on what we should do in our ministries as regards membership drive and how to impact people’s lives. One of the strategies he shared was that of welfare. Based on that when we came back home we strategized and God told us how to go about it. Through the inspiration of God also, God gave us men to back the vision.

How to implement it became a major issue. But when we factored God in, it became easy. With joy we went into it by faith. Today, I can tell you confidently that in the next three months, even if we do not have anything coming in, we have enough to feed the needy in our stores. This will be done every Sunday.

By God’s grace, it will simply be a continuing process where we will give out packages of food to members of the public who are needy every Sunday. It will contain beans, rice, garri, tomatoes, magi and sardine. If we notice that the family has little children, custard will be included. I will personally get involved in giving out the packages so that I can get blessed as well.

The food is not only for the church members but members of the general public irrespective of religious affiliations. The God we serve is not a respecter of persons. His instruction is simple: feed my sheep!

When did this programme start?

This programme was started by my predecessor in September 2008, Pastor Sam Oseghale to bless lives. I was seconded from the Chapel of Life to take over from him. As destiny would permit, I was told to take over operations from him. God gave him grace to birth many programmes one of which is the Hour of Divine Solution which holds every Monday at lunch hour.

As you can see, the crowd keeps growing on weekly basis as people leave their offices 11:am on Mondays to take part in the program. The idea for the program is from God and the testimonies have been awesome. God himself is the author and finisher of the program. Many people have got solutions to their problems by simply attending conscientiously. From about 300 attendees, we now have over 1,000 at the weekly meeting.

Your ministry is passionate about youth empowerment and advocacy. What hope do you see for the Nigerian youth in the face of current economic realities?

Without the youth, there is no hope for tomorrow. If God helped our fathers in the lord to discover and nurture youths like us, therefore, giving us leverage through training, allowing us to perform and release what is embedded in us, I think it would be injustice for people like us to neglect the youth.

About 15 years ago, someone discovered me and picked interest in me. He did practically everything for me to make me what I am today. I keep on telling the youth I am privileged…I believe that their belief in a better tomorrow must never be compromised. I give them four key areas: God: He is the hub to every thing I am going to mention. Finance is crucial, you must be relevant financially. You must be relevant academically and you must be relevant spiritually. You must be relevant in these areas to succeed as a youth.

Part of the Hands of God programme also targets the youth through academic empowerment program. If you want to go back to school, we are ready to train you. We will not give you cash of course, but we will get professionals in the church who will spare their time to develop appropriate curricula and then train you. We will also get forms [for public exams] like GCE for those who want to go further. We have at least three days in a week when we train these people.

Many are apprehensive as the general elections approach. Does the church share the same fears?

The prophecy towards the elections is very bold. It is well written. In Isaiah 3 verse 10 and 11, it says, “Say ye unto the righteous that it shall be well with you.” In the book of Psalms, it says that God shall always speak peace unto his people. Against all odds, these elections shall be peaceful.

It is not by error that you see security operatives discover explosive items before they wreak havoc on the people. It is simply God at work to put the enemies of the nation to shame. There is a great mystery behind the nation called Nigeria. That is why when people are afraid, we will see God taking over the mantle of affairs. Things will work out peacefully.

One of the biggest political parties had its convention recently and people were afraid that it would turn out to be bad for Nigeria but against all odds, the nation has weathered the storm. Sometime early last year, there was a similar cry but today, Nigeria is more peaceful than ever.

Write it down clearly, God is the same today, yesterday and forever more, Hebrew 13-8. He has never failed and he will not fail this time around. Only children of perdition need fear. God says whatever he hears from you is what he will do. What do you see? If you see peace, I will give you peace. You see otherwise then it is yours.
