‘Why we’re training women on empowerment programmes’

The President, Western Nigeria Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Oyeleke Alabi, has explained that the empowerment training programme being organized for women at the grassroot level by the church is geared towards making them self-reliance and be spiritually upright.

Alabi gave the explanation while addressing journalists ahead of the Adventist Women Ministry Convention being planned by the church.

According to Owolabi, the idea of bringing women together exceeds spiritual uplift but also to improve their  services in the areas of social and mental development and how they can be good examples to the  coming generations in Nigeria.

Similarly, the Women Director of the Western Nigerian Union Conference, Mrs. Victoria Omodan said the empowerment training programme has become pertinent because women have significant contributions to deliver to the society.

“The training is geared towards training and we are bringing thousands of women together so as to teach, train and empower them. When we train women, we want them to become better managers of their homes and businesses toward national development,” she said.

According to the church, the women empowerment training programme is part of the global movement aimed at offering participants the ability to gain spiritual strength, divine guidance and empowerment.

“We have been providing various educational programmes in aiding the development of women and young ones and the whole idea is to have a society where everyone is useful,” Omodan said.
