The north central coordinator of Katetales Foundation, Ismail Aliyu said the foundation mentors secondary school students to become authors as a result of the decline in reading and writing skills.

Aliyu made this known in Keffi, Nasarawa State at the formal launch of Katetales Teens club and seminar in north central with the theme, ‘Teen Authorship: Prospects and Challenges’.

“In Kate Tales Foundation, one of our cardinal focus asides women empowerment and girl child education is to embark on mentoring youth on the processes and steps to becoming certified authors. As such we brought renowned speakers today to speak to them and this programme has been on for three years now,” he added.

He said the participants were drawn from all the north central states and will be given books that will aid them in becoming future authors.

One of the speakers, Basiru Sunday tasked the students on the need to embark on research as it will enable them get several ideas which they can develop and publish great books while they are in school.

Iliyasu Usman, SS2, said as a result of the mentoring session, he has learnt the ‘dos and  don’ts’ of book publishing and also stages of research saying “it has encouraged me now to start working on my book in the coming days.”
