Wife arraigned for destroying ex-husband’s shop

A middle-aged woman was arraigned before a Kano State Sharia Court sitting at Kwana Hudu quarters, Kano for allegedly vandalizing the shop of her ex-husband, Kabiru Mohammed.
Jamila Inusa of Kwana Hudu quarters was charged with intentional insult and mischief, o fenses contrary to Sections 312 and 34 of Kano State Sharia Penal Code Law.
The prosecutor, Aminu ‘Yargoje, told the court that the complainant, Kabiru Mohammed of Kuka Daya quarters, reported to the police on December 10, that the accused who is his ex-wife intentionally went to his shop and vandalized it.
When the charge was read to the accused, she pleaded guilty and told the court that she damaged her ex-husband’s provision shop because he owed her the sum of N900 for clothes he bought for his children before their separation.
Sharia Court Judge, Malam Mujittafa Abdulkadir ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to December 17 for continuation of hearing.
