Wike apologises to Oshiomhole, says Obaseki is a serial betrayer

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has described his Edo State counterpart, Godwin Obaseki, as a “serial betrayal”.
He said this while reacting to Obaseki’s attack on him over the face-off with Philip Shaibu, the deputy governor of Edo State.

Trouble started after the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyoricha Ayu, visited Edo on a reconciliatory mission.
Shaibu had said Obaseki and his supporters might leave the PDP because of the crisis in the party.
Wike had responded saying Shaibu was too insignificant to threaten the opposition party.
Defending his deputy, Obaseki told Wike that he was not the owner of the PDP.
But addressing a crowd at the opening of a secondary school in Omuanwa community, Rivers State, on Monday, Wike described Obaseki as an ingrate.
He alleged that the Edo governor had refused to be grateful to the party and the people who supported him to be re-elected when he left the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike said, “If you check the DNA of Obaseki, what you will see in that DNA is betrayal, serial betrayal, and ungratefulness.
“Let me stand today to apologise to Adams Oshiomhole who has been vindicated by telling us that we will see the true colour, the insincerity, the ungratefulness of Governor Obaseki.
“We have voted for PDP since 1999 till now; ask Governor Obaseki if he has done anything for PDP (or) voted for PDP. The only election he voted was his own election, where we gave him an umbrella.”
