Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured that ongoing road projects across Abuja and its satellite towns will be delivered on schedule, as he intensifies inspections of critical infrastructure sites across the territory.

Wike gave the assurance yesterday during an inspection tour of major road projects, including the Airport–Kuje and Kuje–Gwagwalada corridors, where he expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work.

He disclosed that sections of the Airport–Kuje road project are nearing completion, with a portion of the bridge expected to be opened to traffic next week.

“From Airport Junction to Kuje, one part of the bridge is almost completed. Before the end of May, the entire job will be handed over,” the minister said.

On the Kuje–Gwagwalada road project, Wike said the first phase of the dualisation covering about seven kilometres would also be completed within the same timeframe.

“I am happy with the progress. We are satisfied with the quality of jobs being delivered,” he added.

The minister said the projects are part of a broader plan to improve connectivity between the city centre and satellite towns, reduce congestion in Abuja, and stimulate economic activities in surrounding communities.

“Very soon, Kuje will no longer be just a satellite town. People will move there, build houses, and the pressure on the city will reduce,” he said.

Wike also maintained that the FCT Administration remains focused on delivering infrastructure projects without disruption, insisting that contractors are working within agreed timelines.

“The election will come, but people must work. Contractors are not part of politics,” he said.

The inspection tour, according to the minister, is part of ongoing efforts to enforce accountability and ensure that public infrastructure projects are delivered as planned.
