The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has officially commissioned the newly rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant, located at the Lower Usuma Dam in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council.

The project, valued at N50 billion, is a significant step towards improving water supply in the Federal Capital Territory.

During the event, Wike announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the commencement of additional water projects in satellite towns.

He listed the projects to include Bwari water and Karu water supply projects. These two initiatives are estimated to cost not less than N90 billion.

The Minister explained that the Phase 2 rehabilitation, which was awarded in 2022 for approximately ₦50 billion, was completed as part of President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, which prioritizes water as an essential service.

Wike noted that the project will significantly expand the dam’s capacity and enhance water supply for Abuja residents.
