The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has ordered installation of streetlights on the newly completed OSEX II road from Apo to Wassa district, a project abandoned for nearly a decade by past administrations.
Speaking during a project inspection tour on Thursday, Wike acknowledged that the absence of streetlights on the road was due to an oversight in the original contract, which was awarded over 10 years ago.
“It was not awarded by this administration, but President Tinubu insisted that we must complete abandoned projects. I have directed that streetlights be installed,” he said.
CGC has already submitted their quotation,” Wike said, assuring residents of improved safety once the lights are in place.
The minister also visited the Kubwa interchange and Daki Biyu road, both of which he said are nearing completion and are among the key projects slated for inauguration in June.
“The quality of work we are seeing is impressive. Abuja residents deserve the best, and that’s what Mr. President is delivering,” he stated.
