Will Musa’s goals keep the Eagles Flying?

Over the years, Nigeria has always had high goal scoring wingers who influenced games by scoring important goals for the country. Emmanuel Amunike’s exploits in Tunisia and U.S.A 94 from the left flank left lasting sweet memories in the minds of millions of Niferian football fans.
Finidi George and Tijjani Babangida are all wingers who made their marks in terms of important goals scored for Nigeria.
Finidi George scored for Nigeria against Greece in USA 1994 while Tijani Babangida scored the lone goal against Denmark in 1998 in France.
However, since their retirement, the Eagles are yet to fully get someone that will step up and score game changing goals when the chips are down.
Some of the players like Pius Ikedia that followed after that generation came with immense promise but failed to deliver the goods
With Nigeria’s main striker Emenike who has an impressive 9 goals in 26 games for the Eagles yet to hit top form since the commencement of the Mundial in Brazil, experienced former Newcastle Striker Shola Ameobi yet to fully stamp his authority in the team and Osaze Odemwingie playing deep with a solitary goal to show in three matches, it seems the man for the job is Ahmed Musa.
But the question remains can Musa step up the ante by moving in the direction of the aforementioned ex Eagles wingers who did not only supply the crosses but had their fair share of goals scored by the team?
It is hoped that the CSKA Moscow flying winger’s historic double against Argentina which makes him the first Nigerian player to score two World Cup goals in a match will propel him to want more goals which will greatly affect the Eagles chances of making it to the quarter finals for the first time in history.
