The guest of honor was Vice President Namadia Sambo, represented by the Minister of State (Transport), Samuel Ortom. There were speeches from the organizers, federal government and participants. Mr Samuel Otom, in his speech assured participants the support of the Federal Government for the auto market. Just before the minister’s speech, Mr Ifeanyi Agwu commended government for its duty-free policy on CKD- 40 seater unit and above. He also urged the Government to continue giving more support. The Managing Director, Mr Chrishnadas Thampy for TNL represented the participants in his speech that led to the star fleet presentation.
At the event, there were entertainment shows from modern and traditional dancers. The high point of the exhibition has the star cars and commercial vehicles from the exhibitor. From Toyota Nigeria the face lifted Landcruiser and the latest Camry were presented for a wide range of pick for car pools. From Weststar Nigeria, the AMG Luxury pack, Cls four door coupe graced along the red carpet, showing its potential to stand out from other luxury sedans. Its’ star car was the AMG Sls in Gullwing spirits bellowing the crown for thrills for a touch you will have to pay. Stallion Motors Porsche Panamera GTS had a class of its own, but not as a pure breed. The Cayenne followed behind the Panamera and the Audi A4 was not behind in a class of beauty. For the first time in Abuja, Stallion Motors introduced the VW Amarok pick-up that will compete against the Hilux from the Toyota. Vw Worker commercial truck, which is everywhere on Nigerian highways, was also on the red carpet from Leventis Motors. Leventis also introduced the worker Eicher with Vw chassis. There were more from other exhibitors such as the slick 2012 Optima from Kia Motors and Our on Changan Aslvin for Pan Nigeria rolling in with National glory behind the esteemed 508.
The event will continue until next Wednesday and participants will be offering their products at discount prices to lure buyers who have been looking for such opportunities. This is the case with CFAO Intermotors, according to Mrs. Francesca Fabunmi. CFAO promises gifts for those who purchase their brands. From CFAO the all-new Chevrolet Sonic, there is the latest 2013 model being introduced to the public for the first time in Nigeria.
Weststar Nigeria introduced a new world premiere bus concept with 30 seats for the commercial sector along with its trucks.
The early stage of the exhibition has had few number of visitors, but as usual it will increase in number just like last year’s event.
