Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has sympathised with victims of the windstorm and heavy rainfall that devastated Dangamau community in Kusada Local Government Area, assuring them that the state government will provide immediate relief.
The governor described the disaster, which destroyed more than 200 houses, shops and other properties, as painful and unfortunate, saying the destruction had left many families without shelter and means of livelihood.
In a statement on Sunday, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula, said the government shared in the grief of the affected residents and would not abandon them in their time of need.
“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Katsina State, I commiserate with the victims of this disaster in Dangamau. We feel your pain and we will not leave you alone at this time,” the governor said.

He disclosed that he had directed the relevant government agencies to immediately assess the extent of the damage with a view to providing prompt assistance to affected households.
According to him, arrangements had already been made to deliver relief materials, including food, temporary shelter and other essential items, to displaced residents.
“Efforts are in top gear to bring succour to the displaced persons. Food, shelter and other basic needs will be provided without delay,” he added.
The governor also urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with emergency response teams deployed to the community as the government works to restore normalcy.
