Winners have emerged across all categories at the second edition of Lagos Schools Tennis Tournament.

The tournament sponsored by the Allison and Oluremi Ayida Foundation saw thrilling actions from the preliminary stage to the final held at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos.

On the final day, it was an easy ride for Mofifuoluwa Atilola who defeated Adesewa Olaniyan, 6-1, 6-0 to win gold in the U-18 girls’ category.

For the U-18 boys’ final, Onyekachi Ogunjiofor overpowered Daniel Joseph 6-1, 6-1 to claim gold.

In the U-12 boys’ final, it was a stroll in the park for Daniel Igbinovia who defeated Vasa Mohammed 6-2, 6-0, to take gold, while Chisimdi Afammbonu eased past Barakat Ganiyu 6-2, 6-2 in the U-12 girls’ category.

Despite her elder sister’s loss in Girl’s U-18 final, Adesimibo Olaniyan overcame Glory Akpan 6-0, 6-0 in the U-14 girls’ category, eliciting joy from her father who doubles as her coach.

In the U-14 boy’s Goodluck Akinfunmiloye edged his opponent Okandeji Mohammed 6-3, 6-0.

Also, in the U-16 girls’ final, Tiffany Osho defeated Mariam Ogunbamwo 6-1, 6-2 to claim gold, whilst Yahaya Isa defeated Heman Afaramai 6-3, 4-6, 7-3 to claim gold in the U-16 boys’ final.

The U-18 girls’ champion, Atilola expressed her joy and gratitude after winning the gold medal.

The chairman of the organising committee, Maje Ayida said the tournament has become a platform to unearth talents.
