Winners emerge in Bashir Karaye Hausa writing contest

In the Drama category, re-known Hausa novelist, Ado Ahmad Gidan Dabino, won first prize with his book, ‘Malam Zalimu’ while Kabiru Isa Anka came second with ‘Kowa Ya Yi Da Kyau’ and Khalid Imam’s ‘Sodangi’ came third.

In the same category, two books, ‘Gyara Kayanka’ by Ibrahim Mahmoud/K. Gwarzo and ‘Tsakanin Dan Adam’ by S. B. Yakasai were mentioned as fourth and fifth runners up.  

Mr. Patrick disclosed to our reporter that winners in the first position will receive a cash prize of N150,000 while the second position, N100,000 and third position, N50,000 at a Grand Award Ceremony which will take place in Kano, Kano State at a date and venue that will be announced later. He added that the shift of the venue to Kano from Abuja was to enable greater participation of Hausa writers and readers, most of whom are resident in that ancient city.
