Woman arraigned for cheating business partner

A married woman, Hajiya Amina Muhammad has been arraigned before a Senior Magistrate court (47) of Gyadi-Gyadi quarters, Kano state, for cheating a business partner.

According to police First Information Report (FIR), the matter was reported to the police by the complainant, Hajiya Kaltume Danladi of Yar’Akwa quarters that the accused person had collected the sum of N52, 500 from Kaltume with intent to buy furniture for her, but she diverted the money for her personal use.

When the FIR was read to her, the accused person admitted the two-count charge of cheating and for running away from justice.

The Prosecuting Officer, ASP Sanusi Mohammed told the court that the two offences had contravened sections 92 and 167 of the Penal Code Law.

Senior Magistrate Huda Haruna Abdu ordered the accused to start paying the money to the complainant and adjourned the case to 15th February 2017 for summary trial.

In a similar vein, a male resident of Sabuwar Gandu quarters in Kumbotso local government area of Kano state, Sani Mohammed has been arraigned before a Senior Magistrate court (47) sitting in Gyadi-Gyadi quarters, Kano for allegedly stabbing his neighbour with a sharp object.

Mohammed was arraigned for a one count-charge of causing grievous hurt, an offense contrary to section 241 of the Penal Code Law.

The case was reported to the police by the victim, one Sabi’u Ibrahim of the same address, who informed the police that the accused had stabbed and injured him on his back and forehead.

The accused person pleaded guilty to the one-count charge leveled against him.

Senior Magistrate Huda Haruna Abdu granted the accused person bail and adjourned the case to 15th February for summary trial.
