Woman arraigned over N6.1m fraud

A 43-year-old woman, Ogunlowo Bolanle, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court over a N6.1 million fraud.

The prosecutor, Insp Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court yesterday that the defendant and others at large committed the offence between December 16, 2019, and April 21, 2021, at Ejigbo area of Ado-Ekiti.

Insp Akinwale said the defendant obtained the sum of N6.1m from the complainant, Mr Samuel Ayobabalola, on the pretext of securing a loan of N90m which she failed to do and converted the money to her own use.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant his client bail with a promise that she would not jump bail.

In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr Michael Faola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and  adjourned the case to December 14, 2021.
