A 35-year-old woman, Hadiza Mamuda, has been arrested by the Yobe State Police Command for allegedly killing her husband during a domestic dispute over food.

The incident occurred in Garin Abba village in Fika Local Government Area of the state. 

Witnesses alleged that the suspect struck her husband with a piece of wood during an argument, which led to his death.

Confirming the incident, the police spokesman in the state, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the victim was a polygamous man with two wives and five children, one of whom is the accused. 

He added that an investigation is underway and the suspect will be arraigned in court subsequently.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) stated that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, described the incident as tragic and emphasized the importance of community-based interventions to address domestic violence and abuse. He called on religious and community leaders to intensify awareness campaigns on the dangers of physical violence within marriages.
