Woman arrested for selling her day-old baby for N10,000 in Ondo

A 22-year-old woman, Seun Oladayo has been arrested by Amotekun corps in Ondo West Local Government area of Ondo State for selling her day old baby girl for N10,000 to a Pastor.

Oladayo, who hails from Abejoye in Ondo city confessed that she sold the baby because she could not cater for it since the father left her the day she told him that she was pregnant.

According to her, she got pregnant for one Tope who initially promised to open a shop for her but later disappeared after she told him she was pregnant.

She said things have been difficult for her even during her period of pregnancy, adding that she asked the pastor to take the baby away and bring N10,000 because she did not know how she will take care of the baby.

The Pastor, identified as Olawale however reported the matter to Amotekun operatives in Ondo.

Sources said the Pastor paid the woman the N10,000 out of which she said she will pay Doctor N5,000, adding that if he did not give her the money she would have sold to another person because she was desperate.

He said the woman handed over the child in a sack with the placenta.

After reporting the matter at Amotekun office she was arrested.

It was however learnt that she had been handed over to the police in Ondo town.

Contacted, spokesman for the Ondo state police command, Tee-Leo Ikoro said he had not gotten details of the report.
