The police in Edo State have arrested a 32-year-old woman identified as Janet Dominic with five firearms and ammunition in the state.

It was gathered that the woman was arrested following a raid on Iguezemwahu community located along the Benin-Auchi road in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of the state.

It was also gathered that two single-barrel guns, three pistols, seven live cartridges, one dagger, one trigger part and one Beretta magazine were recovered from the suspect.

The command’s spokesman, Moses Yamu, who confirmed the incident, said the arrest was made during the mop-up of arms in the state. 

He said the arms and ammunition were concealed in the seat of a motorcycle.

He explained that the suspect was arrested on April 10 by the command’s X squad during a raid at Iguezemwahu community.

He said one other suspect escaped from the scene on sighting the police.

Yamu said efforts were on to arrest the fleeing suspect.
