Woman arrested with stolen goats, chickens in Kano

Vigilantes in the Yan Awaki area of Unguwa Uku in Tarauni LGA of Kano State have arrested a woman (name withheld) for allegedly stealing goats and chickens from residents.

The arrest followed a complaint filed by the residents as the theft of animals was persistent.

The vigilante commander of the area, Adamu Abubakar Fiya-Fiya, said the woman was arrested in possession of two goats suspected to have been stolen and that she lived in another area and came to the area mainly to steal goats and chickens.

He said, “After receiving several complaints from people that their goats were stolen, we decided to launch an operation to arrest the culprits. Later, we discovered that the woman was among them. We traced and arrested her with two goats.

“She is coming from the Rimin Kebe area of Nasarawa LGA which is far away from here.”

Confessing to the crime, the woman said, “Honestly, it is an act of the devil, but I have realised my mistake. I steal goats and chickens. I am coming here from Rimin Kebe,” she said.

Meanwhile, the vigilante commander said they would hand her over to the police.
