A housewife has allegedly attacked and wounded a 17-year-old girl in the Donga area of Taraba State over suspicions that her husband was having an affair with the teenager.

The suspect, identified as Ramatu Abbas, reportedly attacked the victim, Iwasen Terhemba, with a razor blade, inflicting deep wounds on her face.

Daily Trust gathered that the husband had allegedly been making romantic advances toward the girl, but she reportedly refused him, citing her age and the fact that he is a married man. 

Despite the girl’s refusal, the wife reportedly received information suggesting an ongoing affair and allegedly threatened to “deal with” the teenager.

In an attempt to resolve the matter, the girl’s guardian reportedly took her to the woman’s house to explain that it was the husband who was making unwanted advances. The guardian urged the wife to warn her husband to stay away from the girl.

However, instead of addressing her husband’s behavior, the housewife reportedly trailed the girl to her home afterward and attacked her with a razor blade, leaving her with severe facial injuries.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Taraba Police Command, ASP Victor Mshelizah, confirmed the incident. 

He said the suspect has been arrested and will soon be charged in court. 

He added that the wounded girl was taken to the hospital and is currently responding to treatment.
