A 27-year-old woman, Ene Daniel, was yesterday arraigned in a Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, for alleged breach of public peace.

The defendant, who resides at Royal Dream Hotel, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, is facing a count charge of disturbing public peace

 The prosecutor, Cpl. Hamen Donald, said that the offence was committed on January 23, at about  7.30 p.m.

He added that the defendant on the same date went to ‘A’ Division, Mararaba, Nasarawa State and reported that one Sani Ahmed, and two others destroyed her building, located at New Orange Market, Mararaba.

Donald explained that the police investigated the matter and discovered that the defendant violated court order, and trespassed into the said site, where her building was located.

The prosecutor also informed the court that the site is a disputed land, and people restricted by a court order from entering the site until resolution of the matter.

He said that the offence is punishable under Section 114 of the Penal Code.

Daniel pleaded not guilty, while the judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

Shekarau adjourned hearing in the case until February 21. (NAN)
